The Deck Officers and Masters Guide is a STCW-compliant handbook that aims to provide full support for successfully obtaining the Certificate of Competence for Officer in Charge of a Navigational Watch and for Master and Chief Mate (STCW, Tables A-II/1 and A-II/2), but it also fits with the needs of professionals other than seafarers operating in the maritime field or simply shipping enthusiasts.
The subdivision of the topics makes the volumes extremely flexible for use in different fields, and the style and layout choices make the volumes particularly suitable for visual learning styles; in fact, many coloured pictures and drawings are provided.
The theoretical notions are kept synthetic and direct as much as possible and are characterized by pragmatism and on-the-job vision in order to exclude the intervention of heavy mathematical considerations. In addition, each volume has a large number of solved exercises and worked examples.
